Brian DeLima

Brian Jon DeLima, 66, of Hilo, died Feb. 8, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born on May 3, 1955, in San Bernardino, California, he was attorney for his own practice at Law Offices of Brian J. DeLima, tennis player, and served on the Hawaii County Council, the Board of Education, and numerous community organizations.

Public services will be announced at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Paige DeLima; children, Blaise DeLima and Blaire DeLima; mother, Angela Dulay; sisters, Kim (George Christian) DeLima, Cheryl (Nathan Kainoa) DeLima and Celeste Blagrave; brother, Lance Duyao; and numerous aunties, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Bonifacio Corpuz

Bonifacio “Pacio” Corpuz, 73, of Pahala, died March 4, 2022 at his residence. Born Feb. 11, 1949, in the Philippines worked at the ML Macadamia Nut Orchard as a nut harvester and irrigation pump operator and was a carpenter.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. April 1 for visitation at the Corpuz residence in Pahala. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. April 2 at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 10 a.m. Mass. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Friends are welcome to a gathering at the Corpuz residence immediately after the service.

He is survived by wife, Oliva Corpuz; children, Rowena (Edgar) Pollante, Remely (Brandon) Kight, Rey (Luzy) Corpuz, Rochelle (Rodel) Abero, Ruby (Gabor) Corpuz-Salla, Rodelyn Corpuz, and Katherine (Nathan) Corpuz-Perry; eleven grandchildren; seven sisters and brothers; and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.

Mae Okinaga

Mae Hatsuko Okinaga, 87, of Hilo, died Jan. 8, 2022 at a private care home in Hilo. Born Oct. 13, 1934, in Hilo, she was a retired licensed practical nurse for Hilo Hospital and member of the Honomu Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

Private services. The family requests flowers and koden (monetary offerings) be omitted.

She is survived by husband, Kazuto Okinaga of Hilo; daughter, Amy (Jason Hashimoto) Matsui of Hilo; son, Carl Okinaga of California; brothers, Ted (Janet) Sasamura of Hilo, Melvin (Judy) Sasamura of Oahu and Clyde (Marian) Sasamura of Aiea, Oahu; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Jean Weinrich McDonough

Jean Whitney Weinrich McDonough, 62, of Waimea, died Dec. 30, 2021 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born June 18, 1959, in Kealakekua, she was a retired athletic trainer and acupuncturist, past participant of the Ironman triathlon and past member of the Kona Kai O Pua Canoe Club.

Services will be held at a later date.

]She is survived by her children’s father, Robert McDonough of Waimea; sons, Conor (Breauna) McDonough of Waikoloa and Robby (Kerry) McDonough of Kalaoa; sister, Sandy Weinrich of Holualoa; and two grandchildren.

Denise Jarra

Denise Cureton Jarra, 37, of Mountain View, died Feb. 20, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a homemaker.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by sons, Kupono Jarra and Kekoa Jarra-Ah-Heong of Puna, and Keoni Jarra of Oahu; daughters, Lily Arruda Jarra and Tiana Jarra-Ah-Heong of Puna; hanai daughters, Precious Arruda of Puna and Luana Jhane Soriano of Saipan; hanai sons, Alika Arruda, O.J. Kaleleiki and Kanakanui Kaleleiki of Puna; brothers, Kolomona Jarra of Mountain View and Geen Jarra of Hilo; sisters, Napualani Jarra of Mountain View, April Trujillo of Colorado, Fernanda Taylor and Joanna Stephens of Texas; four grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joseph Souza

Joseph Dias Souza, 91, of Paauilo Mauka, died March 4, 2022 at his residence. Born Sept. 19, 1930, in Paauilo, he was a retired heavy equipment mechanic for the Hamakua Sugar Plantation and a small rancher and farmer.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. April 2 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for 10 a.m. Mass. Casual attire. Burial to be planned at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Joan Andrade Dias Souza; sons, Damien (Sharon) Dias Souza and Gary Dias Souza; daughters, Jo-Ann (Timmy) Cabreos, and Gwen (David) Kennerly of Virgina; hanai daughter, Tabathia Dias Souza of Texas; brother,David (Violet) Dias of Paauilo; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harry Eliason

Harry E. Eliason, 73, of Papaikou, died Feb. 4, 2022 at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 11, 1948 in Moose Lake, Minnesota, he was a retired attorney.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. April 2 in at Church of God in Hilo for a service. Burial will be held in Minnesota at a later date.

He is survived by wife Deborah Thompson Eliason; son, Christopher John of Minneapolis; and daughter, Sarah Almi of Maui.
